Museum Cultural Sponsorship Account

Fundraising to promote a public heritage collection.

Does your association or organisation manage a public heritage collection in Belgium? Does it have a project aimed at promoting its image and making it accessible to the general public (e.g. via a publication, exhibition, video, or internet site), but needs additional funds to complete the project?

A museum cultural sponsorship account, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, enables you to raise funds in a transparent manner from sponsors. Your project will gain in visibility and your donors are assured that their donations are put to good use.

Duration

The museum cultural sponsorship account has a duration of one year and a half. It is closed as soon as the budget required to complete the project is attained or when the duration of the account has expired.

How it works

A museum cultural sponsorship account is set up after approval by the Management Committee of the King Baudouin Foundation’s Heritage Fund. Once it has been created, your organisation or association is responsible for raising the necessary funds. Your project enjoys more than just recognition; the Foundation also guarantees that any donation made is indeed used for the realisation of the project, as well as managing fiscal matters too.

Budget

The budget is determined in function of the specific project approved: there is no minimum or maximum. In order to finance its own activities, the King Baudouin Foundation is authorized to deduct

  • €250 from the first donations received for projects whose budget is under €25.000.
  • Annually, 2% on the amount of cumulative donations over €25.000

Taxation

Donations of 40 euros or more made to a museum cultural sponsorship account at the King Baudouin Foundation’s account IBAN: BE10 0000 0000 0404 – BIC: GEBABEBB, are eligible for a tax reduction of 45% on the amount effectively transferred, which is mentioned on the tax certificate established by the Foundation.

To achieve that result, we had to convince farmers, because initially they were very hesitant to use the organic products.Today, they follow us, especially since they no longer have to wear protective clothing to avoid burns caused by the chemical products. BioPhyto products are better for their health and that of the population, which can now count on healthy and organic food. And that means great long-term progress for health, the environment and the economy."

“The relationship between funder and grantee is important,. Social entrepreneurs are passionate about what they do. Trust is critical in the sense of empowering implementers. I experienced that trust and that was empowering, the feeling that I have control to take decisions that I see are right for us.”
